It’s utter Lynnsanity! Lynn Chen is back! Not only is she an actress and a food blogger, she is also a podcast-lover! Lynn has been on our show twice before, on Episodes #28 and #57 at the old iTunes feed. We were delighted to have her join us on this week’s show. She even brought the new flavor of Girl Scout cookies ‘Savannah Smiles’ to review. And we also had a new book sent to us for review called ‘The Power Of Habit’ by Charles Duhigg. Interesting stuff!

Lynn is a busy gal! She’s got three movies out this year, including ‘Nice Girls Crew’…

… and ‘Yes, We’re Open’

…and ‘Daylight Savings’ too!

You can search for her on Netflix to watch her other films. Of course, the conversation wandered into some other directions. Some of the things mentioned in this episode were:

  • Not just a mascara, it’s a lash treatment: Chantecaille
  • The Strange Case of the Leroy 18, read the whole article here.
  • Room 237, the documentary on interpretations of The Shining movie.
  • Viral buzz with erotic novel  ”50 Shades of Gray“.

You can find Lynn at her blog The Actor’s Diet and follow her acting work at lynnchen.com. On twitter, you can tweet her @MsLynnChen or of course, find her on fb.

Thanks for listening! See you at the next episode!

I feel ya with the procrastination- if I make a “To-Do” list, I have to keep the really imperative tasks off of it, because I know I’ll put them off if I feel like I’m expected to get them done. It’s bad.

Read “fifty shades of grey” and I totes agree with Amy. It was horrendously aweful! I didn’t mind the BDSM stuff but the “I’m going to change this jaded man” bullshit it so ridiculous. Love the podcast! You ladies are amazingly cool!

    Hi Ladies-
I have just discovered your show and will spend the next month catching up! Very fun and enjoyable. I wanted to make a comment about the LeRoy 18–the case of the girls with the mysterious tics. I know you said that all the girls are cheerleaders, but that isn’t true. Some are and some are not. Also, there was a boy mentioned in the article as well. In addition, parents from other communities and even other states have come public that their children are experiencing similar symptoms– months before the LeRoy case began to get national attention.

I think we need to be careful that we don’t write off strange disorders that we don’t understand as psychological. I think it is disrespectful to those who are suffering to assume that stress or some desire to copy each other is causing the amazingly disturbing symptoms. Haven’t teens all over the US experienced stress and the desire to belong? Are not there millions of single moms raising healthy kids? When did divorce become a cause of disease (I know you didn’t go into detail on your show–but this is the direction that many news reports have gone). It isn’t in the least bit helpful to point the finger at dysfunction or stress when, in reality, many of these girls are seeing the same specialist, who has discovered through extensive testing, the presence of chronic strep bacteria that is know to affect the basil ganglia of the brain. Another bacteria called mycoplasma has been detected in several of the other girls. Another one has tested positive for Lyme. Often, these three disorders can go together–or the presence of one can upset the immune system and engage latent bacteria that had previously been kept in check.

Here is a link to a news feature in NY about a doctor who is helping these girls recover their health. I believe he is treating them successfully with antibiotics— not anti-anxiety medication and counseling.

Thanks for letting me rant : ) I just think only need to go back to the Salem witch trials to be reminded of how it is far too easy to place blame on victims and their families and cause much more harm than good. These girls need our support, not our judgement.

    Thanks!

Yes! I put a link to the NY Times article above in the Show Notes so you can read the specific LeRoy piece that I mentioned- I think you’ll find that the article does have a particular slant to the reporting (and was written the test results had not been released, i think)….Thanks for sharing!
