Hello dear friends!  Hello patient people!  Hello to you!

We’re back and we like to think we’re better than ever.

This go-round on the podcast we’re talking about all of the important things:  the Serial podcast, the friendly term for a nervous breakdown, what’s a mini-pani, and yes we’re eating Spring Rolls in the car, and talking about Mardi Gras in December.

•  You can read a little bit about the first leg of Joy’s Book Tour here. There’s no mention of the nervy-b.  It’s better that way.

•   Check out the Serial Podcast.  Everyone is doing it.

•  Tracy made Fresh Spring Rolls if you need a visual of me losing my mind on some rolls in a fast-moving vehicle.

•  Next time you see a single dude in Target, ask him if he needs help with candles and/or rugs.

•  No NagChampa.  NO.

•  Nate Fisher.  NATE FISHER.

•  Jessica Simpson + Nick Lachey = Newlyweds.  Season 1 Episode 1.

•  I need a ball gown… which is a weird thing to need.  Rent the Runway.

•  Tracy wants a hurricane (the drink) and a parade, and then a drive-thru daiquiri.

Thank you for joining us for the latest podcast! We are so glad you’re here.  We’re so glad we’re here.  We’re glad we’re both here!

Joy! You have to tell me where you got that gorgeous bowl for your stand mixer. Haven’t seen that anywhere!

  4. Good to hear your voices.

  5. You’re baaaaack!! I’m 5 secs into the podcast and feel I need to make my presence known. 😉

Love that its back! And a side note to explain the Dax/Kristin Bell commercial. She is pregnant with their second child which is why she was pregnant in the commercial. I saw her interviewed about a month ago talking about their first child and expecting their second.

    • Joy the Baker Dec 15, 2014

      well that explains it!

    • Tracy Dec 15, 2014

oh yes! I know she’s pregnant with her second which is why I was like…wait what happened to your first? Or is this supposed to be from a few years ago (but not?)

Gotcha. Agreed, the first baby should be in the commercial to, other wise it’s confusing.

    So glad you’re back!!!!

  9. So glad to have you ladies back! Now I can do work again… Good luck find finding a gown, Joy!

I’ve had very good luck with rent the runway! I’ve never been screwed by an order (knock on wood), but I’ve heard they’ll overnight you an exchange if you’re in a crunch. If I can find the same style at Nordstrom or Saks, I’ll buy it, try it on, return it, and order from RTR for my event…sorry Nordstrom and Saks 😛

I don’t get cell service in my office building, so I just stood out in a rainy atrium for 7 minutes to download this episode. Waiting until I got home was basically not an option.

    Welcome back!

  12. So glad to have you gals back. Happy holidays!

  13. I’m so glad you’re back! Train commutes aren’t the same without you …

  14. Wow I’m so impressed that you can drive and eat at the same time….I’ve been driving for years and I just can’t do it. If I attempt to turn the heating on or off I start to zig zag… Back when smoking was a thing… I just had so many tearful mishaps while driving that now… I just don’t even move my hands from the steering wheel… and you had a guy checking you out!!!! Can people flirt while driving??? really???? what’s wrong with me???

  15. Yah, Joy & Tracy are back!!! I have to tell you I WAS able to continue doing the things I normally do while I listen to you both(driving my car, doing my dishes, cleaning the house) but it was just not as fun. Heck, could you imagine if I had not done the dishes in 2 months…oh boy!!! Loved listening to your latest podcast while on a road trip home, thanks for entertaining me.
Also, thank you for introducing me to the podcast Serial. I.LOVE.IT! Hope to hear another one from you both soon.

  16. Sooooo glad you guys are back! Serial is great and all, but it’s not what you would call an upper, and sometimes I just need a good laugh while cleaning.
Super jealous of your time in Nashville, Joy! I lived there for almost 7 years, and it has my heart forever.
Also, was just telling people the other day about drive thru daiquiris, and they couldn’t believe that they’re a thing. methinks I need a trip to New Orleans ASAP.

  17. Joy, the Mardi Gras season actually starts on Jan 6, so you have even longer to party than you said!

  18. Carrie Dec 17, 2014

Yaaaaayyy! I haven’t even listened to this yet, but the mere sight of a new podcast is glorious! Merry Christmas. :)

My sister and I went to a movie after dinner once but drove separately since we met at the restaurant. We took our dessert to go (to eat in the movie, duh) and as I passed her on the interstate going 70 mph I looked over and she was holding a scoop of vanilla ice cream in her hand and eating eat. She had realized it would melt before the movie and had no spoon in the takeaway bag.

Also, I’ve discovered a cup of mac and cheese from Wawa fits perfectly in the cupholder, and it’s not the runny kind so you can scoop out forkfuls pretty easily while driving…

    Joy and Tracy,

I need your help! I am currently sitting at my desk, with your newest podcast in my ears. Sadly, instead of enjoying the show as a welcome distraction to my long work day, the headphones are in because my co worker will not stop singing show tunes. I know this is a hilarious predicament, but I have to say, I am on my last nerve. We are in a small office with just the two of us for the majority of the day, with only a cubicle wall in between us. She is so opposite from me, I would like to think I am quiet, kind hardworking and thoughtful. While she is loud, somewhat lazy and does not think before she speaks! How do I placate this situation? Do I ask her to stop? Do I dare risk that work relationship? We are not very close, and I started working here recently, definitely a newbie to this small company. Help!

Thanks Ladies! Love the show :)

  21. Whenever my sister and I grocery shop together, we lose our cool when we spy the “mini penne” pasta. Like, fits of giggles and walking around the store saying “mini penne” in a Sean Connery accent. This is the life!

  22. Soooooo happy to have you guys backkkk! Whoa..I’m late to the party but I checked religiously for the past couple weeks when you were MIA! Happy new year gals!
