  1. So exciting!! I missed you ladies last week!!!

  2. This episode was a good one. Not only do I need lotion, but I totally need that lip pencil. AND I wish that you both were coming to Michigan for book-signing, eating, and mostly hanging out! <3

  3. Yay Portland! It was great to meet you. P.S. Not even the locals like this weather. Also, I love your podcast- Hi Tracy! Write a cookbook!

  4. So I figured I’d just listen to some old Joy the Baker Podcasts at the gym this morning cause they’re timeless BUT to my joy and surprise there was a brand spanking new podcast for my ears! Totally needed and appreciated today. And Lauren, I totally know how you feel! You’re not alone, girl. :)

Joy travel to the East Coast, we love you here too! (Totally not meant to be creepy, by the way.)

  5. Today has been a bad, sad, day. Then, here you are! Thanks for making it a better one :-)

  6. Hey I’m Erin!!! I’m the crazy balloon dreaming girl. :) So funny – I blame my pregnancy and anything else I can possibly blame for my insane dreams…. Love the podcast! Can’t wait to see you in Chicago.

  7. Great podcast!

    I need a blazer!!

    Best of luck Lauren!

  8. Hi!
I would love it if you would be able to do a book signing in Nashville, TN. I thought that I would be able to go to your St. Louis signing but I sadly do not think it is going to work out to drive up there. Parnassus books is a nice, small bookstore and there is also a Barnes and Noble here in Nashville. PLEASE COME!
Thank you kindly. You and Tracy are amazing!

  9. Omg! I just found my NARS Velvet Lip Pencil again (in Sex Machine lol) and the reason I haven’t been able to wear it is because I don’t have a large enough sharpener, probably the reason I stopped wearing it (#lazy). Need to go out and get one!

    Love the podcast! =)

  10. Hey Joy (and Tracy Shutterbean too!)
If you like King Arthur Flour, you should sooooooooo so so so SO find a way to make it to their Baking Education Center in Vermont. It’s unreal. My mom and I went up and spent half a day learning how to make baguettes. Like, really really good baguettes. I cannot recommend it enough. (And, uh, there’s a prettttty epic store there too :))

Great podcast!! Last week sucked without my podcast dose.

BTW: YAY LAUREN!!! Good luck with those recipes!!!!

  12. Your talk about worrying is TOTALLY perfect timing. I’m about to finish my Master’s degree, and I am terrified about what’s next for me. Thank you both for your reassuring words.

Also, my boyfriend and I ended up in a fancy department store recently and we were perusing the big KitchenAid stand mixer and the food processors. I definitely dropped some registry talk on him, and he freaked out a little. Oops!

  13. The link to the Enjoy! Gift Subscription is broken :(

  14. {also, the Wilton bag link is broken}

was it me, or were there some Portlandia references running around in the poscast :)

  16. Great episode – and GREAT to meet you both Joy & Tracy in Seattle this evening! I highly doubt that you both remember me as there were so many you chatted to, but it was really a dream come true for me as I love both your blogs and the podcast and all your food as well!! I got a little star struck. Haha :)

Lauren – I feel ya, girl. I think the silly thing about those feelings is that the nature of them, as you described them, make you feel so inferior to everyone else, and the irony is that everyone feels that way at least some of the time if not most of the time. If everyone feels that way, well we can’t all be inferior can we?

Anyway because it sounds like your biggest hurdles are fear and getting started, I wanted to strongly recommend you pick up this book by Danielle Laporte: The Firestarter Sessions. She’s incredible (you can check out her blog at http://www.daniellelaporte.com/ and buy her book on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/The-Fire-Starter-Sessions-Practical/dp/030795210X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332051331&sr=8-1 (I think it’s just pre-order right now but it’s coming out very soon). This woman will light a fire under you for a new business, a side project etc.

Joy and Tracey – you are the best! It is always fun listening to you.
But why did you mention the en-Joy content when my package is nowhere close to Germany yet?!? I am so looking forward to receiving mail from Joy again.
Please go on as you are, make me laugh out loud on my way to work and on the subway (this especially happend when you were talking about the stripper “Joe the baker”)
Once again, you two are the best!
    Cristina

  18. Just love your podcast, always.
    I have a question, though.
I have a mildly successful blog. Somewhat decent traffic most days, I blog religiously with lots of photos and descriptions. What does it take to get myself out there more? How do I let people know that I have this blog that’s pretty cool? How did you guys get the additional traffic? Is it necessary to pay for blog ads, like food buzz?

  19. Lauren Mar 19, 2012

This is Lauren, assignment-requestor. Thanks so much for the good wishes, everyone! I’ve made Tracy’s Pasta Fagioli Soup before and it is fantastic – this is a great excuse to make it again. Stay tuned.

    • Tracy Mar 20, 2012

YAY!!!! That’s fantastic. I can’t wait to see your pics, Lauren!

    • Hi, I know this was a few months ago, but I would love to see if you (Lauren) have started a food blog. I recently started an everything blog and felt much like you do. I love to write, have all these dreams and ideas, but have a hard time settling down and getting it done! I would love to see you succeed in your plans and dreams. I hope you will see this and let me know…if not maybe Tracy or Joy will respond? :)

      Happy blogging!

  20. I may have said this before… I don’t mean to be annoying I promise. But pretty please come to Salt Lake City. I would be forever and a million years grateful. Oh jeez I hope I’m not annoying.

PS. I just got married and was soooo looking forward to getting awesome things on my registry. Yeah. Right. If I got anything from the registry, it was the cheap cutting board. Still saving for a bright and shiny Kitchenaid mixer…

  21. Julie Mar 19, 2012

    Good luck, Lauren!

I think that’s such a great idea- maybe we should all get some creative homework every podcast. Just sayin :)

  22. Jenny Mar 20, 2012

Good tip on the decorating bags! I’ve heard that the reusable ones do die after ~10 uses and they can get stained like you said. I tried piping macarons with a Wilton bag and tip today and it was so easy to throw the bag away afterwards. I can’t imagine having to try and clean that thing.

  23. I love, love, LOVE Savannah Bee Company! I’ve had their tupelo honey, and my bff gave me their honey roasted coffee for Christmas. So good!

  24. Natalie Mar 20, 2012

I met Joy and Tracy at the booksigning at Cakespy! I don’t think I’ve ever been so awkward and quiet in front of another human being; I was so nervous and I barely spoke a word! I was (am) so stoked and it was so crazy to actually see and hear them in person. Thank you so much! It totally made my day/month/year :D

  25. Beverlily Mar 20, 2012

Hey, Frick and Frack, I love you guys. So glad the book tour is going well. The cookbook is awesome. I’ve already made the blueberry muffins and bourbon banana, chocolate chip bread. My husband and I loved them and so did my neighbors. Can’t wait to try more things.

  26. Hi Joy & Tracy! I’m an avid blog follow of you both and a weekly podcast listener. This is going to sound super cyber stalkerish, but I swear I’m not a creeper… You two sounds just like my friends and I, and sometimes if I talk about your podcast to another person, I speak about you as though you are really my friend. A real life friend that doesn’t even know who I am… HA! I’ll be all, “Oh so what did you think of Tracys story today…blah, blah, blah.” And they know exactly who I’m talking about.

Anywho, I actually had a question for you. I usually expect a podcast every Thursday, so I do my major cleaning then, blasting your voices over my stereo. It really does help get those floors and bathrooms cleaner, I swear. BUT…the few times there has not been a podcast, I’m starting to feel lost and unmotivated. Like there is no reason to clean. I might be exaggerating slightly, but seriously, it makes cleaning so much more enjoyable. Well, I was wondering what, if any, other podcasts do you guys listen to (asides from Homefries). I’d love to bookmark a few others so I don’t have to burn out on public radio everyday.

    Thanks!
    Kacey

P.S. Joy – Congrats on your book & tour!
P.P.S. Tracy – Congrats on your organizing. I LOVE organizing!

  27. I love Lauren’s idea of requesting a challenge. You two should post a weekly/monlthy challenge for everyone. I think it would help me and others get in the kitchen more often! I tend to throw things together more than follow a recipe but if I was challenged to do something, then I wouldn’t turn it down! :) just a thought!
    Love the podcasts!!

  28. Joy! That NARS pencil reminds me of the thing I’ve been obsessed with in the past few months. It’s the Tarte matte lip stain – similar chubby lipliner style, but I have the hot pink and it’s surprisingly complimentary and not so fancy. It’s not creamy but it’s totally not drying.

    http://tartecosmetics.com/tarte-item-lipsurgence-natural-matte-lip-tint

Anyway, yeah. Not a commercial. Just an obsession.

  29. Thank you for answering my question about piping bags! You ladies are the best!
