Hello friends!  Thank you for joining us for another Joy the Baker Podcast!  This week we’re talking about essential oils, ghosts, and signing all of Deepak Chopra’s books for him (because he’s probably really busy).

•  Tracy treated herself to an essential oil class and is dropping her knowledge on us!  She didn’t bring a pillow and she forgot to wear socks with her sandals.  It’s ok.  She’s got a few years to go before she’s a full-fledged COMFORT LADY.

•  Floracopeia Essential Oils.

•  I saw the ghost that lives in my house!  Well, I saw the bottom of her dress.  We all love a few ghost stories, right?

•  We should read a Deepak Chopra book together!  The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: A Practical Guide to the Fulfullment of Your Dreams.  Just the ticket!  We’re slow readers, mostly because we’re busy people.  We’re going to slowly make our way through the book and let you know when we’re going to talk about it on the podcast!

We so appreciate that you’ve joined us for another podcast!

As always, you can find us on the Internet!

  1. Hey! I loved your podcast this week (as always)! One of my favorite episodes is “Embrace Your Inner Hippie”. I’m wondering if you both have any updates since that episode was recorded almost 3 years ago. I’d love to hear an “Embrace Your Inner Hippie, Part 2″. Thanks!

  2. Tracy, you inspired me to start bullet journaling earlier this year. It’s been such a lifesaver for me! I keep my journal open on my desk as much as I can and I write all my crazy thoughts down in the journal as they occur so I get them out of my head so I can keep working, and then I address them later (and check them off! Yes!). Life is so distracting. Like I’m at work and I think about that house down the street that I wanted to check out on Zillow. Write it down, look it up later. It’s silly and small, but writing it down gets it out of my head and checking it off makes me feel more productive!

That makes me so happy! I have to clean my journal out. There are so many loose papers in there that it makes me not want to use it cuz it’s so bulky. Time to change that!

  4. a loose bookclub, yes! thank you. what authority said all bookclubs had to be 1-month?!?! whoever it was was not a person like me. thank you! thank you!

  5. I am SO happy to hear your podcast today – I’m in Scotland and we’re in the midst of the referendum and its SUCH a delight to tune out of all the media stories listen to guys. Thank You! :)

  6. So…it’s silly that “comfort ladies” talk to flowers…but you believe in ghosts? And ladies who talk to ghosts?

I live by a “say what you mean, mean what you say” philosophy.

I love eggs…won’t turn away a runny yolk…but for some reason I CAN’T STAND mayonnaise. In life, sometimes things don’t make sense.

  7. downloaded the book to the kindle… will join the renegade bunch of book readers :) thanks ladies!!!

Went on Amazon and ordered the book immediately without even thinking about how I barely have time to study for the CPA right now let alone finish a book, but excited for the ‘loose’ book club anyways :)

In other news… Gerard Depardieu was in the news [he can apparently drink 12-14 BOTTLES of wine a day!] and it reminded me of the “Jepper Depper Do” episode :) https://gma.yahoo.com/gerard-depardieu-says-drink-12-13-14-bottles-172644213–abc-news-celebrities.html

Tracy, I can’t believe you picked the book with the odd number in the title. I was shocked. :-)

  10. Such good timing on this! I’d been reading a ton about essential oils lately, and wanted to buy some, but when I went into Mothers Market, they are behind locked glass and I just didn’t want to deal with being tended, you know? Then I found Young whatever, but it felt way too multi-level marketing. Ew. Just ordered some from Floracopeia. Many thanks! And Joy… your ghost story fully freaked me out. In a good way.

  11. My husband and I recently moved and are staying temporarily in a duplex thingy and the bathroom looks straight down the hallway and EVERY night I scare myself by staring down the hallway waiting for some scary man to come around the corner to kill me. I want to move ASAP, obvs. *shudder shudder shudder*

Going out in casual bra is the worst! I want small boobs. I want to be the person who could go around without wearing a bra. It sounds amazing. Friction might suck, but lugging around sore boobs even in a bra is also not fun.

  12. Book club recommendation – Delicious! by Ruth Reichl (finished it today and totally loved it!)

Also – I started working at a bakery about 2 months ago (always been a dream of mine to have my own so it seemed like a good opportunity to take!) Anyways.. the owner mentioned to me a few weeks after working that there are allegedly ghosts of the former owner and his wife. She had a few experiences, and so did some others.. She mentioned about whistling – well twice now that I’ve been there alone – I SWEAR I heard whistling that could have been no one else but this ghost. It’s never seemed malicious by any means but being there by myself for long periods freaks me out and I have to crank the radio up to make myself feel better. hah :)

    Great podcast, (non-comfort) ladies!

I saw Nightmare on Elm St. when I was 5 years old (older brothers as babysitters is a bad idea!) and from that moment, every time I went up the stairs from my parents’ basement I had this vision of Freddy Krueger chasing me. I mean, ev-er-y time up until they sold the house two years ago and I was a grown ass lady. To make things worse, the light switches down there never worked right, so you’d have to turn the light off at the bottom of the stairs and go up in the dark. Gahhhhh!!!

    • Tracy Sep 29, 2014

My childhood was ruined because I watched that mini-series of Stephen King’s IT. So bad. My brothers were super into Nightmare on Elm Street and all they had to do was say Elm St and I would freak out.

  14. It’s Beca. Wow! Thank you guys so much for the encouragement! I couldn’t believe it when I heard my name. I did my runs and it was actually amazing, I slow ran that thing like a boss! I ran through Marin and thought of Tracy. Had my fill of adults though, and couldn’t wait to get back to my little lady!

  15. tracy, what was the recipe for the spritz that you made with the essential oils that you use as a pick me up? love the podcast….love love LOVE both of your blogs. big kiss

  16. The way both your minds are with the lists, home organization, cleaning, etc. is like exactly how I think. Glad to hear someone else that I can relate to! btw, please do more podcasts! I’ve been making my way through all of your podcast but I noticed you haven’t done any and they are so great, I love listening to them when I am at home blogging.
