This week on the podcast, Joy & Tracy discuss the good, the bad & the ugly sides of FRIENDSHIP!

We get real… and no one gets angry and we only pretend to breakup.

How can you maintain a good friendship?
Tracy sends pictures through text message… pictures that your son drew of Joy the Baker.
Legs for days!  And no pants!

Joy surprises friends with pictures in the mail by using Postagram.

That Postagram.  is now Tracy’s bookmark for this book: 1000 Best Quick and Easy Organizing Secrets!
Joy & Tracy discuss what they look for in a friend.
Friends MUST like food. That’s a no brainer!
What are signs you need to bail on a friend and how does one do that?
Tracy thinks you can tell a lot about a person by the way they play Tetris.

…For the record… this Tetris game is CHAOS… right?
Joy gives her insight on dudes who are friends. There’s a secret pact involved.
Tracy wants Brad to be her BFF. It must be the glasses.

We’re friends. Let’s celebrate.

Please don’t think I’m a nit-picky jerk because I adore you guys and I’m not trying to take anyone down, but “beau, ” as in your boyfriend, is pronounced like the bow you’d put in your hair or on a present. If you Google it you can listen to a pronunciation.

In further hopes of you guys not thinking I’m a grammar jerk/internet troll, I’m waiting on three (yes three) copies of Joy’s book and can’t wait to read it and get large making all the yummies. (And if you came to Denver I’d say beau with you however you wanted.)

  • joythebaker February 10, 2012 at 9:47 am

thanks melissa. i’m definitely not trying to pronounce beau. i’m pronouncing boo. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=boo

also… thanks for ordering the book. that’s major.

You could be particularly tactful about phasing a “friend” out. I used to have a friend who was just a negative person, and I remember my brother noting that whenever I saw her, it felt obligated and not enjoyable. He asked me, “Why do you do things you don’t want to do? If you have a friend who’s a bad person, sometimes you just gotta cut it off. You gotta.” True and helpful.

Psshaw! Don’t settle for an impersonation, Tracy. Brad so stole my steez, yo.

Cooper’s lumberjack pajama set is the most adorable thing ever. Also his face is like a perfect happy face. I want to teleport into that scene and have pancakes with Cooper. I guess it would be pretty terrifying to have an asian lady stranger materialize out of thin air, though.
PS. I would be friends with Buster & Annyong from Arrested Development.

Postagram is yet another thing I am obsessed with now because of this show. Thanks ladies!

Oh my gosh, I had just been hoping you guys would do a podcast about friendship! It’s just what I needed. I like sending flowers to friends’ workplaces on their birthday…it always makes people feel special to get flowers delivered at work.

Also, here’s a red flag you might pay attention to: A friend who acts perfectly fine and then one day blocks you on Facebook with no warning and refuses to talk to you. Yeah…

Thanks for the wonderful podcast, ladies!

And food… *Joy with her, they gotta love food statement* lol

Hey Joy and Tracy! First off you guys are awesome! My best friend, Sara, and I love your blogs and listen to your podcasts all the time. Thank you so much for the tips, advice, laughs, love and sharing your lives! :)

Secondly I was kind of wondering if I could ask a favor? Sara and I have been friends since we were lil’ nuggets. I love and adore her more than words. I just recently moved to the great state of California (whoo!) and she is still living in our hometown of Grand Rapids, MI, and it suuucks being so far apart! To make matters worse Sara just found out that her mom has terminal cancer and wasn’t given a whole lot longer to live. She is obviously having a really hard time and I’m struggling knowing the best ways to encourage and support her being over 2,000 miles away. I have been racking my brain trying to think off different things I can do to try and make her smile and feel loved. It finally occurred to me while listening to this podcast about friends that maybe you could help? You two definitely make her smile! I know that anything, even something as small as a quick email from you two would bring a little sunshine to her day. I totally understand and respect if this is not possible! Just thought it was worth asking! Thank you again for being you! :)

tracy–you look just like a princess in the postagram photo-great expression! and joy, you are so lucky, david cross (tobias) had his clothes on in the restaurant you saw him at! i listened to a podcast with him at The Nerdist and he said he sometimes just gets naked at a restaurant!??

  • jen February 15, 2012 at 8:55 am

I am totally like Tracy when I play Tetris, sometimes I get the whole screen perfectly filled and all I need is like 2 of those long blocks in the far column..Hm.. what does that say about me?!

Also, did you know each of those geometric block game pieces in Tetris are called Tetriminos..like Braggaminos…Joy? :)

Oh, how I love you ladies! I was friends with a couple who was very on-again-off-again, and every time they would break up I would tell the dude what a good choice he made because the lady was CRAZY. Well needless to say it was awkward when they kept getting back together. I guess that’s something I shouldn’t have said to a friend! Thanks for keeping it real. I love the tips for keeping up long-distance friendships, I’ve been finding myself in too many of those lately.

  • Nicola February 16, 2012 at 9:58 am

I had a friend who did that ‘oh, wow’ jealous thing. I broke up with her. So glad I did.

  • kelly February 16, 2012 at 10:18 pm

I’ve so had to break up with a girlfriend and I have to tell you girls put up such a fight!
Wanted to ask you both: Do you ever worry about your friends you broke up with stalking you on your blog? Listening to your podcast and knowing it was them you were talking about?
Love you both; Joy I wish you were coming here so I could meet you on your awesome book tour~but no:( You will do great and many people will come and love you ooxoo
