This week Andy, Greg, and Nathan talk about how to kick off a dinner party! They discuss everything from amuse bouches to booze, sherry to vinegar powder. It might be hard to walk into a room full of strangers for a dinner party- nothing a slide show, a good cocktail, and an impromptu photo shoot can’t fix!
There’s hardly any talk of cats and boys. These three know how to get down to business and start a party right.
a. Remember Episode 3 of The Table Set? Find out just how Nathan’s housewarming party turned out!
b. We like your shirt Greg. Nice fashion!
c. Nathan made an amazing Cucumber Sorbet with Herbsaint Sabayon!
d. Greg makes kumquacello! Drunk kumquats.
e. Drunk kumquats tured into kumquacello gelee!
f. Nathan has some good things to say about sherry!
g. Nathan’s prosecco gelee!
Gelee turns into a weird word the more you type it.
Greg’s Mustard Green and Vinegar Powder Amuse Bouche.
Baby mustard leaf, 3 small dollops of creme fraiche loosened with a scant 1/2 teaspoon milk, then shaken with vinegar powder straight from the jar. The presentation (a rock) makes it special and a fun way to open a dinner party. It was playful on the palate too, being tart, creamy, peppery and bitter all at the same time. My inspiration came from Maaemo restaurant in Oslo. Where to buy vinegar powder!

I can’t tell you how much I’m loving your podcasts! I’m somewhat of a reluctant entertainer. I love to cook & bake, but tend to be too much of a perfectionist about everything, and make myself crazy when it comes to the food. Because it’s all about the food. That’s the point of a party, right?
Anyway, you’ve totally inspired me, and I’m having a small dinner party in my backyard on Sunday evening. Eagerly awaiting the next podcast…thank you!
ps – You could make the podcast an hour longer, I wouldn’t mind a bit!

Kim and I had the pleasure to actually be at the dinner party where Nathan served his Cumcumber Sorbet with Herbsaint Sabayon, Amuse Bouche. Believe me, it is a PAR-TAY in your mouth!. One of the most delightful things we have ever tasted!
We were the strangers in the room, literally we didn’t know anyone. But Nathan, Andy and Greg made us feel right at home, with a cocktail, an impromptu photo shoot, and their charm of course. These guys truly know how to throw a party!

LOVE your podcasts. I could sooo relate to the stories of the housewarming party and all the endless bottles of wine (that I secretly didn’t want).

Wilma, I am the same way about entertaining.. doing the ‘cast has even helped ME feel more relaxed in the host role! Practice makes perfect, I guess!!! Thank you for the kind words! Melba, the pleasure was all OURS! Still so happy you were at the party that launched this whole thing!
Jenny – A while back I read an interesting use for two buck chuck and/or an oxidized open bottle – use it to boil pasta in! Adds an earthy zing.

I LOVE your podcast, but I was wondering why there’s no third episode?! #4 comes right after #2, right?

Episode 3 isn’t available on this website? And I can’t download itunes at work.

Yay, I see you’ve fixed the problem. Great, thanks!
Now I can finally hear all about that housewarming, yay!
