‘Tis the season, and The Table Set is having a holiday party. You’d be invited… but it already happened.
But regardless, these Gentlemen have the ideas (and outfits) to put you in the holiday party spirit!
Tired of the dull old cookie swap or decorating party? How about a brittle making party?
Think beyond the typical peanuts and such. Nathan makes brittle with saltine crackers!
Rather than an ordinary mulled wine, Greg and Nathan are dreaming of something more old school, like a Smoking Bishop.
Let’s talk about pomanders. We’re talkin’ oranges studded with whole cloves. They make any punch look fancy. Nathan had them floating around a beautiful ice mold in the punch he made for The Table Set party.
Double fancy!
Even more fancy is egg nog. Real egg nog. From scratch.
Nathan swears by Jeffery Morgenthaler’s recipe. I think our guests would agree.
But really, does anything say “Happy Holiday’s” more than Greg’s kitchen sink filled with bubbly?!?
What about the non-drinkers, you say? Nathan will point you to a primer on how to make a shrub. We’re not talking about a plant in your yard.
Or try slipping some sorbet into soda. Andy loves the combination of raspberries and persimmons at the holidays.
And in case your confused about different persimmons (or what a persimmon is), read up kids!
With all this sugar and alcohol around, we should really balance things out with some savory snacks.
Andy will put in a pitch for something light: Red Pepper Hummus in Cucumber Cups.
Look! Red and green! They are practically made for the holidays.
Nathan makes a festive salad that is even more colorful.
Yes. That’s totally funfetti action on that salad.
And the guys won’t stop talking about the Tomato Fig Ketchup that Greg made for Andy’s birthday months ago. It would be perfect for the holidays… or most any day.
Enough talk. It’s time to party!
Greg made two turkeys. 100% devoured. Gone.
If we had an award for best dressed, these two would have tied for first place.
A real serious recycling pile. A clear sign of a successful party.

Hey, boys!
Thanks so much for taking my question on air! Really digging the idea of the DIY brittle and the more hands-on cookie making party. I kept it pretty basic at my party– just added a hot cocoa bar with different chocolates, candy canes, homemade whipped cream, sprinkles, bourbon, kahlua, and nice marshmallows…
Again, thanks for the awesome ideas! Made sure to feature you guys (and this podcast and your blogs) on my blog!
Much love,
Allie

Sounds great, Allie! (Next time add a bottle of Rumplemintz to the mix for your cocoa bar! Mmmm…)

I love your podcasts! I listen when I take the dog for a long walk and it’s like having friends along and we both get a good workout before we know it! And I’m so stealing the pomander idea for my Cranberry Pomegranate Bellini punch…and the salad will be on the table next Christmas Eve. Thanks so much, and keep the ideas coming!
